New Year, New Life, New Resolutions???
Every time the year ends, most of us will reminisce the year that was and at the same time, come up with new resolutions for the coming year. We always say “to save,” :”to lose weight,” “to work hard,” “to become a better person,” blah blah blah. But looking back, have we really accomplished what we said we aim to accomplish at the start of every year?
On a personal note, I must admit that I don’t live up to my new year’s resolutionS (capital S for emphasis). I was browsing through my 2013 planner and to be honest, I only accomplished 1 out of 10 – which means I haven’t lose weight yet and I still haven’t organized my daughters’ photo album.
But what does it really take to make sure we will all do what we said at the start of every year? DISCIPLINE.
If we all start acting and stop procrastinating, I am sure all of us are “better persons” now. It’s all about discipline, combined with a proper mindset and willingness to do whatever it takes to make sure all our goals at the start of the year will materialize. It’s about putting our heads and eyes on the prize. It’s about starting NOW, not later or tomorrow. It’s about making sure we do what we say, all 365 days of the year and not just the first 2 weeks of January. And this is a challenge for all of us.
So here I am, also challenging myself. I’ve been writing about the same resolutions every year and I still haven’t changed (well at least I somehow improved). Every year, I am given a chance to do something bigger and better. Why waste the opportunity?
2013, you’ve been good to me. I may not accomplish everything that I said I will but you definitely taught me important lessons in life. To 2014, I am so ready for you!
