5 Reasons Why My Kids and I Love Disney

I need to get some things done at home so I decided to pop the Frozen DVD on the player to keep my girls still and behaved. Thankfully, it worked.

This is the usual scenario at home. My girls are into Disney movies that they even memorized the songs from Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Frozen, Tangled, Sleeping Beauty, Brave, and other Disney classics – and I don’t mind. After all, I grew up watching Disney movies – with CDs and VCDs to prove that. Now that I’m a mom, I introduced Disney movies to my kids as well and here’s why:

Reason No. 1: Disney movies come with a truckload of lessons.

This is what I love about Disney. Every story comes with lessons, which kids can learn from. Take the case of Finding Nemo wherein it taught us to follow our parents, or from Beast in Beauty and the Beast, which reminded us to be patient, compassionate, and to look past a person’s physical appearance. What about Up, where it taught us what true love means and to never give up on our dreams?

The point is we can learn something from all Disney movies and every character in it, which our kids – and us too – can apply in real life.

Reason No. 2: Disney movies teaches us – and our kids – to dream.

If there is one common thing about Disney characters, it’s making us believe that anything can happen if we put our mind and heart into it. It is something I want to teach my kids and remind myself too from time to time. Life will never be easy and there will always be bumps and roadblocks along the way, but everything will pay off in the end.

Reason No. 3: The songs! Disney-On-Ice-Magical-Ice-Festival-Philippines 5I grew up singing Part of your world from Little Mermaid and Hakuna Matata from Lion King among others. The songs are catchy and the lyrics and melody will surely make you sing. Now that I have kids, I can’t help but smile as I listen to them sing songs from Frozen, Tangled, Beauty and the Beast, and other Disney movies.

Admit it, mommas. You memorized every word too.

Reason No. 4: Disney movies also teaches the importance of family.

Name a Disney movie that doesn’t highlight the importance of family. Most, if not all the time, Disney movies highlight why kids should listen to parents and vice versa. We’ve seen it in Brave, despite Merida’s defiance, or Lion King, when Simba disobeyed Mufasa, or when Nemo refused to listen to his father in Finding Nemo. Still, the bottom line is Disney movies highlights the common struggles in parent-children relationship and managed to resolve it, which we could all learn from.

Reason No. 5: Disney movies are so fun and positive to watch.

Have you watched a Disney movie that didn’t leave a smile on your face after? Most of the time, Disney movies will leave a smile on your and your little one’s face. Sure, it will make you cry or sad, just like when Anna turned into ice, or when Mufasa died, but at the end, Disney movies will make you smile. Yes, happily ever after does exist, although not in a fairy-tale way.

Speaking of Disney, make sure to catch Disney on Ice and watch your favorite Disney characters perform live. Say hello to Mickey, Minnie, and the rest of the gang. Expect a spectacular show from Disney princesses Belle, Ariel, and Rapunzel. Disney-On-Ice-Magical-Ice-Festival-PhilippinesIf that doesn’t excite you, then you better watch out for Elsa and Anna! See you there!

Oh, I love Disney movies, too. And the boys would always request their mama to visit the movie house once theyve learned of new shows.

I like your points on why you and your kids love Disney. Can’t decide which is my favorite one. But I must admit I’ve memorized Beauty & the Beast and Little Mermaid! hahaha 🙂
