#TMCReview : Caffera Photo + Cafe in Maginhawa

Mar 17, 2016 | Reviews, The Momma Eats

My daughter had their rehearsal at Bulwagang Claret for their Moving Up Day. Since the teachers agreed that no parents and guardians will stay inside the venue, my sister and I decided to go around Maginhawa Street and look for a place to stay and kill time.

Then we found Caffera. Caffera ReviewI read about Caffera many months ago because of its unique concept. When we saw a parking spot, my sister and I decided to give it a try.

The first thing that will welcome you is the collection of cameras from different generations. It was nice and brings back memories from childhood. I even forgot how cameras with film looked like so this was a good reminder.

Nostalgia :)

Nostalgia šŸ™‚

When it’s time to order, I have to be honest. It took us a while to decide. There were so many good things on the menu that my sister and I had a hard time choosing. Caffera ReviewEventually, we settled for White Mocha and Choco Lofi. I also ordered New York Cheesecake and I love how it went well with our drinks.   Caffera ReviewWhat I Like

  • The concept – It was the first time I visited a cafe with camera/photography theme and I love how it looks. I am not into photography, but it makes me want to try this. Caffera Review
  • Books and magazines – On the side, Caffera provided a collection of books and magazines to keep you company. Oh, and the books on the shelf reminded me of high school too since most of the titles were what we read from way back.
  • Free WiFi – Who doesn’t need them these days? The connection is pretty decent too. Caffera Review
  • The lens glasses – It just goes well with the concept. Don’t be fooled by the size and think that the drink is small. It took us two hours to finish the drink. Caffera Review

The Not-So-Good Side

  • Tables and chairs – I’m not sure how to make it work, but I hope the tables and chairs could also follow the camera theme instead of the usual wood.
  • Limited space – Caffera is a bit cramped, which may not be ideal for big groups. Caffera tends to be noisy too since many students also frequent the place.  IMG_3560

Overall, I like the place. It is clean, the drinks taste good, the staff are accommodating and nice, and the price is reasonable. If you plan to visit Caffera to work or study, I suggest that you bring ear phones with you so you could concentrate. You’ll never know when a group of college students will come and visit.

How about you? Have you been to Caffera? If yes, how was your experience?

Caffera is in 2/F Dona Zenona Suites, 54 Maginhawa St. cor. Mahusay, UP Village, Quezon City. Don’t forget to check out their Facebook page too!

Oooh I love the theme! šŸ™‚ A friend gave me a film camera from the early 80s and until now I haven’t had the chance to have it fixed. I hope the cafe also offers camera services plus selling din para all-in-1 na šŸ˜€

The New York Cheesecake! I am craving for it now! Ang ganda ng place. It’s so cozy. Sayang, I am from the south but I hope I’ll be able to visit the place someday. When the traffic in EDSA or C5 has vanished, maybe. :))

Oh no. I just hope the traffic situation will get better SOON. I rarely go to Makati or BGC these days because OA ang traffic.

2 hours to finish your drinks? What did you drink? I’m curious, haha. Anyway, I’ve seen this place in another blog and heard of Maguinhawa street.I was just telling my husband about it the other day. I’m thinking of taking a trip there soon to see what’s up.

I just got the smallest size. For some reason, mabagal talaga ako uminom when in coffee shops. :))

Only place I’ve been to so far in Maginhawa is Blacksoup Cafe+Artspace. When my little bro will come for a visit, I will definitely drag him to this place since we are suckers for great coffee place. How’s their coffee? šŸ™‚

Thats why we cant find it. Its inside a building? My boys and I are frequent Maginhawa goers but every time we visit the place, we end up eating to a new diner because we just cant find our original choice. We found Snacks and Ladder, for instance, in search for the Nook Cafe.

Yup, second floor! The entrance is on the side. May maliit lang na door and just ask the guard where Caffera is šŸ™‚

This is the second time I’ve read a review about Caffera and it makes me more curious about the place. There’s still so much for us to explore there in Maginhawa.

Interesting concept. I’m sure photographers would love to hang out here. Hopefully they extend or widen their space.
