Covid-19 Time Capsule For Kids + FREE Printable

Apr 13, 2020 | Free Printables, Mom Life

We had so much plans for this summer. Sadly, coronavirus happened and we were all forced to #stayathome to help #FlattenTheCurve. Sure, my kids were bummed but let’s look at the bright side. At least, we get to stay with our kids and make memories even at the comfort of our homes.

Then, I saw a time capsule activity on Facebook, which looks like a great idea. We haven’t done this sort of activity, so we figured it’s a good way to remember that once upon a time, we all experienced community quarantine.

I decided to make our own time capsule for three reasons. First, I have time to spare. Second, I want to make it more personalized. Lastly, I don’t have black ink. Haha!

I kept it as simple as possible since kids and writing are two things not worth combining, right? I mean my kids are big enough but writing seems to be an issue for them, especially my youngest. There’s also enough space for them to write on, or in my kids’ case, draw on.

It’s amazing to see how kids are feeling in this challenging time. It’s also heartwarming to see that one of the things they are thankful for is that mom and dad are spending time with them. My husband and I have flexible work arrangements but now is the only time where we get to be with them 24/7.

WHERE TO KEEP THE CORONAVIRUS TIME CAPSULE

Ideally, the time capsule must be placed and kept in a box. Since we don’t have one, I just placed it inside an envelope.

I also included the family hand activity we did last week. We all traced our hands in colored papers and I pasted each hand on top of the other, starting with the husband’s.

Of course, pictures I took over the last 30 days of being at home were also included. These are just some of the activities that we did, which are mostly focused on Filipino. Haha!

I’m all for filling the kids’ memory bank and this activity is one way for us to remember about that time when the whole world was in lockdown. This has been a very difficult time for all of us and I want the kids to remember that during that time, we were there for them.
